What is a storage path configuration #
A storage path configuration is a way for the DataIntell application to convert the path of its files and folders into the right format for Archiware P5.
By default, the DataIntell path is not converted, but it can be useful when the On-Premises storage that are scanned are mounted on a device with a different operating system than the device which is running the Archiware P5 application. This can cause the start of the path to be different on DataIntell and on Archiware P5.
An example would be if some On-Premises storage are mounted on a centOS device and that an Archiware P5 application is running on a macOS. The paths on DataIntell could start with /mnt and the paths on Archiware P5 could start with /Volumes, which would result in an issue when trying to archive files from DataIntell to Archiware P5.
By using the storage path configuration, it would be possible to tell the DataIntell application to replace /mnt with /Volumes, allowing the Archiware P5 application to handle the files and folders correctly.
There are two storage path configuration types in DataIntell, which are the global and the individual. The global storage path configuration will affect all the DataIntell storage, which is useful if every storage is not on the same operating system as the Archiware P5 application. The individual storage path configuration will affect only one storage, which can be useful if there are different operating system for the different storage in the DataIntell application.
The DataIntell application will follow a certain order when changing the path of its files or folders when doing an archive or restore job:
- Individual storage path configuration
- Global storage path configuration
- Path configured under the On-Premises storage section
Which means that if there is an individual storage path configuration for a storage, it will use it instead of the global one.
How to set up the global storage path configuration #
From the Archiware P5 Integration section in the Data Settings page, you can set up the global storage path configuration by clicking on the “+” sign in the designated section. From there, you can fill out the required information.
- DataIntell Path: The mount path of the DataIntell storage. An example would be /mnt if you are on a centOS device.
- Archiware P5 Path: The mount path of the device that the Archiware P5 application is running on. An example would be /Volumes if Archiware P5 is running on a macOS device.

Once it is done, it is possible to update the global storage path configuration or remove it if you want to use the default behaviour of using the DataIntell path.

How to set up an individual storage path configuration #
From the Archiware P5 Integration section in the Data Settings page, you can set up an individual storage path configuration by clicking on the “+” sign in the designated section. From there, you can fill out the required information.
- On-Premises Storage: A DataIntell storage that will provide files and folders to archive and that will receive files and folders that are restored from Archiware P5.
